HO Slot Car Racing was started in 1999 to provide accurate information about the HO slot car racing hobby. The Internet was beginning to become a main-stream Information outlet for most people so pages devoted to raceway design, layout wiring and computer-assisted lap timing and counting were some of the first topics covered.
Many visitors asked where they could buy the wiring products I described, and others asked me to custom build a slot car raceway for them.
The first products HO Slot Car Racing offered in 1999 were Track Wiring Kits, Custom Power Tracks, Drivers Stations and MS Windows Lap Timer 2000 Software for counting and timing laps.
These products remain in the catalog to this day and are still much-appreciated by track owners who want a professionally wired track. As I built more and more custom tracks for customers I realized that a need existed for turn borders or aprons that could be placed around the outside of turns to provide a drifting area and eliminate the guard rails that allowed the car in the outside lane to lean on the rail and gain an unfair advantage.
I designed tooling to have these turn borders made for me by a company specializing in rubber products. These turn borders are available on the Borders page along with red and white striped FISA curb tape kits.
Color Coded Lane Marking Tape was added around that same time. These kits made it easy for anyone to mark their lanes using this handy tape kit.
